Teacher Background

My name is Mr. Sarnoski.  Most of the students simply call me Mr. "S".  I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Exceptional Education from Penn State University and a Masters degree from Florida Atlantic University.  I am certified by the State of Florida to also teach Gifted Education.  My hobbies include running marathons, growing orchids, watching Penn State football games, and relaxing.

7 Great Rights of Gifted Kids

  • You have the right to be in classes that are challenging and interesting
  • You have the right to know about giftedness & why you are in the gifted program.
  • You have the right to make mistakes and not always be perfect.
  • You have the right to be with kids who really understand you.
  • You have the right to be treated with respect by your friends, teachers and parents.
  • You have the right to be different.
  • You have the right to stick up for your rights.

Curriculum

The Challenge Center provides gifted children with  enrichment through a pull-out program.  I split my time between Osceola Magnet School, Rosewood Magnet School and Vero Beach Elementary.

Curriculum topics are selected according to student and parent input or the appropriateness of national or world events.  Units of study have included Human Body, Greek Mythology, Technology, Electricity, Insects, Simple Machines, Rockets, Inventions, Odyssey of the Mind, National Elections, and Heart Dissection.

Materials

The only materials that you need to gather include a three ring binder complete with paper and dividers.  You will use this binder to store any papers or "Sarnoski Bucks" that you want to safely keep.  If I need any supplies to facilitate experiments, I'll send a note home asking for donations.
